Spool Sensing provides an enhanced level of safety by enabling sensing and feedback of the spool position within the valve. This is a cost-effective way to integrate sensing capability with feedback to a PLC, onto a valve manifold. Currently available in the HA (size 01) ISO valve with solid-state sensor, spool sensing is offered in single or double solenoid, 2 position HA valves in either plug-In (15407-2) and Non-Plug-In (15407-1) base styles. Suitable for use on ISO style valve manifolds, such as Parker's H Series ISO valve manifold product.
Markets:
• General Industrial
• Packaging
• Automotive
Features/Benefits:
• For use when detection of the spool position and confirmation of this position is required. This can be required in an application prior to performance of a secondary operation, as a means of enhanced safety or as part of a redundant safety circuit.
• Applications looking to increase safety should consider the valve function and typically a 5/2 single solenoid with mechanical spring return provides assurance that the valve will have a known state in the event of a power failure or fault condition within the circuit.
• 5/2 single solenoid (with mechanical spring return) valve will return to the 12-operator state
• 5/2 double solenoid valves will stay in the “last state”
Applications:
• Pneumatic applications where valve position must be known
• Applications which require feedback of spool location to the PLC
• Applications requiring redundant safety (spool sensing can be used as part of the circuit)
HA Spool Sensing is not a certified safety component to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC however, with proper integration; the HA Spool Sensing product is suitable for use in safety circuits following safety related parts of control systems (SRP/CS) to EN ISO 13849-1 standards. It has been developed and manufactured in accordance with the basic well tried and trusted safety principles as outlined in EN ISO 13849-2. When used in high categories, the sensor signal from the valve must be evaluated by the control system to achieve high diagnostic coverage and proper fault detection.
